Q: I am a landlord/tenant. Can you check if my lease agreement is valid prior to entering into a tenancy?
A: The short answer is: No. Although paralegals may provide legal services in the area of residential tenancies and may appear at the Landlord and Tenant Board, paralegals are not licensed to review contracts unless they are related to a court/tribunal proceeding, or an intended court/tribunal proceeding.
If you would like a legal professional to review your contract, including a lease agreement, you will need to contact a lawyer.
However, if you are having issues with your landlord and/or tenant, we may review the lease agreement to ensure that the landlord and/or tenant is not in contravention of the terms of your lease agreement in order to serve the appropriate notices and/or file the corresponding Application with the Landlord and Tenant Board.
